Homeownership still seen as desirable!

by brian
Here's a great article from the good folks at Keeping Current Matters on the perceived (and real!) benefits of homeownership. In a market that is slowly leaning towards renting instead of buying, we can see why some people will continue to want to own a home rather than rent for reasons other than investment purposes. Read a teaser below...

Homeownership: Still the American Dream

by THE KCM CREW on AUGUST 16, 2011 Yesterday, Fannie Mae released theirNational Housing Survey for the second quarter of 2011. They survey the American public on a multitude of questions concerning today’s housing market. Each quarter, we like to pull out some of the findings we deem most interesting. Here they are for the most recent report:

Most Important Reasons to Buy a Home

When we talk about homeownership today, it seems that the financial aspects always jump to the front of the discussion. However, the study shows that the four major reasons a person buys a home have nothing to do with money. The top four reasons, in order, are:
  • It means having a good place to raise children and provide them with a good education
  • You have a physical structure where you and your family feel safe
  • It allows you to have more space for your family
  • It gives you control of what you do with your living space (renovations and updates)                                    (more)

So what do you think? Do you find homeownership more desirable than renting in today's economy? What do you think are the trade-offs?

Cheers, Brian

Downtown living

by brian
If you want to be in the hustle and bustle of the big city, look no further!

Sweet downtown pads!

We've got two great places listed here in downtown Lafayette. If you or someone you know wants to be in the most exciting part of town (excluding construction zones), then check these out. You could use as a rental or investment property or live there yourself. Be close to all the festivals, the restaurants and the nightlife that downtown Lafayette has to offer. Perfect for those who work in the central city! Give us a call, 765.497.0700 or email brian@russellteam.com, to be put in touch with one of our excellent buyers agents! Cheers, Brian

Newest member of the team

by brian
Hi y'all!

You can see where I get my stunning looks from!

My name is Brian and I'm the newest member of Cathy's Team. And if you notice a slight resemblance, it's because Cathy is my mom. Now, I'll let you know that I'm a little bit goofy, very competitive and quite nervous about working for my mom. She's definitely the Type-A in the family; I'm the Type-"laid back", but I know everything will turn out okay... However, don't let that fool you! (especially, all you clients!) I'm a hard worker and just about as detail-oriented as my little sister, Stacy. You'll find me in the office, most days, trying to figure it all out. Initially, my focus is on the website and the rental properties, but I'm a pretty-good all-around problem-solver (who thinks that excellent hyphenation is second only to excellent hygiene!) I look forward to meeting all of you - customers, agents, vendors, and friends of Cathy. Stop by the office, send me an email, brian@russellteam.com, or call me, 765-497-0700! Cheers, Brian
